Please Help
Arabic Native Speaker Survey

I'm a researcher from the School of English at the University of Nottingham. My interests are in learning more about how English speakers acquire Arabic vocabulary and as part of this work I am assembling a data set for a group of 300 Arabic words. I hope to publish this for use by other language researchers who would like to work with Arabic.

The data collection is concerned with frequency and imageability and is in the form of an online survey, which takes between 15 - 20 minutes to complete. All data is anonymous. To thank you for participating, you will be given a chance to enter a prize draw to win a £25 amazon voucher

Join our innovative programme of excellence in Teaching Arabic as a foreign language (TAFL) starting in the beginning of April for an opportunity to build a career in teaching Arabic in the UK and worldwide.

This specialised training programme will run intensively over 5 weeks. The total number of hours is 60, including the practicum and the reflective practice. Trainees will gain a certificate in Arabic language teaching from London Centre for Arabic Language Training after finishing each part of study and pass the assessment successfully.

Description:
Sharek’s intensive programme focuses on key areas such as expanding teachers’ language awareness, teaching grammar instruction, teaching Arabic language through contexts such as drama, story-telling and teaching Arabic for specific purposes. It will also focus on demonstrating how to develop learners’ speaking skills.
The programme explores the teacher qualities, skills and knowledge required for instructing Arabic at schools, universities, higher and further education institutes and language centres. Emphasis is placed on entertaining and effective approaches and techniques for teaching Arabic as second language and teaching heritage learners.
The teaching portfolio you are going to complete will allow you to put theory into practice while delivering, reflecting, discussing, and criticising your own practices and comparing them with other teachers in the field

Registration:
The following steps should be considered to register for the programme:
  1. Request an application form by emailing us at enquiries@sharekcentre.com
  2. Attend an online or face to face interview at Sharek Centre
  3. Complete a competence test (only if your field of expertise is not Arabic language or related)
  4. Finally, you will get an acceptance and enrolment email with all the programme details and timings

This past January, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Batal, one author of the Al-Kitaab textbooks, held a 
webinar to help Arabic teachers plan their lessons using Alif Baa Third Edition and Al-Kitaab Parts 1 and 2, Third Edition
 
The webinar was conducted in Arabic and covered:
-How to cover the lessons and divide them over class meetings
-How to assign drills for homework or in-class activities
-How to help students learn vocabulary
-How to utilize the companion web site to enhance students’ learning
-Strategies for integrating the teaching of dialect and formal Arabic while using theAl-Kitaab program

Dr. Mahmoud Al-Batal is Professor of Arabic and Director of the Arabic Flagship program in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Texas, Austin. He received his PhD in Near Eastern Studies with specialization in Arabic Linguistics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is one of the authors of the Al-Kitaab Arabic textbook series published by Georgetown University Press. His main area of research is Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) and he has written numerous articles in this area.  ربما يستفيد  هذا الاستاذ المهاجم في تصحيح الاخطاء لتلاميذه قبل ان ينفروا من تعلم العربية
